We will describe in detail in the following pages some of the most important historic villas in Lucca. Among the first villas built and restored in Lucca, we find Villa Bendinelli in Cocombola. The villa has a sixteenth century building and is just one block with stone staircase and two statues at the sides. Adjoining the villa, there is also a chapel. The villa was also frequented by Giacomo Puccini. Restored in the seventeenth century, Villa Mansi was purchased by the family Cenami in 1599. The renovation was designed by Muzio Oddi, but the owner was receiving advice and influences from a relative in France. Also impressive Villa Burlamacchi that in 1556 had only two floors and now has three floors and a beautiful porch with a double staircase from the eighteenth century. Another beautiful historic villa in Lucca is Villa Santini in Camigliano that, while dating back to the sixteenth century, was rebuilt in the eighteenth century and whose statues and park visitors marvel.
