Location
The vacation house stands at an altitude of 450 meters on the hills between Siena and Grosseto, in Maremma, a region in southern Tuscany inhabited since prehistory and rich in Etruscan settlements, the most famous being the archaeological sites of Roselle and Vetulonia. In the early Middle Ages the region was abandoned and it was only in the 18th century that the first attempts to reclaim and repopulate the area were made. Nowadays Maremma is renowned for its breathtaking, unspoilt and wild landscapes, its beaches - a wonderful setting for scuba diving - and its parks and nature reserves - such as the Uccellina Park and Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve. Widely renowned are also its thermal towns: Saturnia and Petriolo.
Description
The vacation house is a 14th-century stone building situated in the center of the charming medieval village of Torniella; in origin it probably was a tower of the castle of Torniella.
Around the house stretch various trekking routes and within about one kilometer is Val di Farma natural park. A riding stable, a tennis club and thermal baths are just a few kilometers from the house.
San Galgano, the castle of Belagaio, Siena, Montalcino, the Chianti district and the beaches along the coast of Maremma are within easy driving distance.
A garden equipped with gazebo, barbecue and private swimming pool (7.50x3.80 m; depth: 1.20 m) stretches at the back of the house.
Accommodation
The three-story building is divided into two communicating apartments that can be rented to one group of 12 or to two families.
An apartment composes of kitchen-living room, two double bedrooms and a bathroom.
The second apartment is on two floors and consists of kitchen-living room with double sofa bed, three double bedrooms and three bathrooms.
Facilities and Services
The vacation house is equipped with barbecue, iron, electric oven, microwave oven and private car parking place.
A maid service is available upon request.
A restaurant, a food shop, a café and the post office are 50 meters from the house.
A tennis club, a riding stable and thermal baths are within 15 kilometers of the vacation house.
