A possible route in
Valtiberina could begin from
Anghiari, a medieval village, scenario of the famous battle between the Florentine and the Milanese in 1440, rich in ancient traditions and surrounded by olive groves which produce a very good extra virgin olive oil.
Following this route, an obligatory stage is
Monterchi, where Monna Romana, the mother of
Piero della Francesca was born, where it is possible to see the famous fresco
La Madonna del Parto. A countryside rich in wonderful landscapes surrounds Monterchi: here you can also taste the famous polenta, a typical local dish.
Then you will arrive to
Sansepolcro, the city of Piero della Francesca, with a countryside rich in groves cultivated with tobacco which will become soon a DOC product.

Pieve Santo Stefano, city of Roman origins, homeland of the famous prugnolo, a very appreciated mushroom.
The route finishes in
Caprese Michelangelo, homeland of
Michelangelo Buonarroti, a village surrounded by chestnuts where the famous chestnut of Caprese, mushrooms and other products of the brushwood are collected.
