Villa Pannocchieschi d'Elci is also known as the Villa d'Anqua, the village of Siena, where it was built. Anqua is a small village. Its origins date back to the fourteenth century with a church and a small town, but it was the construction of the villa to give importance to the village. In 1572 the Count Marcello Tommaso Pannocchieschi of Elci built this great house. The property still belongs to the family Elci Pannocchieschi. There's an inscription on the facade below the coat of arms of the family, and the initials of Marcellus Thomas Pannocchieschi of Elci on the lintels of the doors and windows remind the visitor who was the owner and developer of the construction of the villa.

Observing the rigor and the sumptuousness of the villa, some historians and architects have speculated that the architect called to design and build the villa was Baldassarre Peruzzi. In fact there are many similarities between this villa and the villa of Belcaro: the inner courtyard, two main building, the partition walls. But the Peruzzi died in 1536. The architect then remains unknown. The facade is clad in brick and the windows have a white frame. The backyard has a large pit with iron decorations and a crenellated wall with statues and decorative vases. The well dates back to 1789.

The park has been restored and embellished over the centuries. The well dates back to the late eighteenth century. The small church near the villa was restored in the seventeenth century, but it's probably the church which was in these places already in the fourteenth century. In the garden there is a centuries-old holm oak, famous and recognized as a monumental tree.
