Villa Bellavista in Pistoia

Villa Bellavista is located in Borgo a Bucciano in the province of Pistoia. The property was purchased in 1673 by the Marquis Francesco Ferroni. The property belonged to Cosimo III de' Medici and in it there were 45 farms. Its ideal location, situated on a hill a few kilometers from Montecatini Terme. It was on this hill that the Marquis built his villa, enriching it with a chapel and a large garden full of fountains and statues. A long driveway leads to the villa bordered by hedges. In front of the main entrance to a square with a large tub. The stone staircase and three arches adorn the facade and the entrance to the villa. The architect was Antonio Maria Ferri. The villa has a Baroque style typical of villas and luxury residences built in the same period in Florence.

The Ferroni kept the house until 1829. In the eighteenth century, however, part of the farm was flooded and necessitated large land reclamation. Baron Giuseppe Ardia was a firefighter and bought the villa. He lived until his death with his family in the villa. His remains are kept in the chapel of the villa. The villa has four towers at the corners and has a long balcony along the front.

Inside, the most important room of the house was the ballroom. The balustrades on the sides of the hall were used for the musicians. The great frescoes in the hall helping guests to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of luxury and celebration. Even today, visitors can hear the echo of those parties and that glitz. The main artists that made this elegant villa and were Pier Dandini, Giovan Battista Ciceri and Rinaldo Botti. 
 
The ground floor of the villa houses the Historical Museum of the body of the Fire Department. You might also like to take a nice stroll in the garden. From the garden you can also admire the beautiful scenery with the Montalbano hills and vineyards.
