Villa Cenami Mansi was purchased by the Mansi family in 1599 and the work began in 1634. The architect was Muzio Oddi but the owner, Countess Felice Cenami, was strongly influenced by his brother-in-law Paolo, who lived in Paris and followed the French architectural trends. The facade of the villa has a Mannerist style and the park is in the French Baroque style. Muzio Oddi was particularly famous in Lucca for having built the famous city walls that still characterize the city. The house originally was divided into a large hall surrounded by smaller rooms. After the work of the seventeenth century and the subsequent changes of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the villa today shows a central body high and slightly behind the two side wings. The large porch is airy and creates a stunning visual impact and the facade of the villa in general. Inside, the villa has a refined furniture and important paintings by Stephen Tofanelli the eighteenth century.

The park was renovated in the eighteenth century and modified in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The architect of the original project was by Filippo Juvarra called  Ottavio Mansi. Juvarra played with prospects and softened the slopes and also creating various closed gardens. He created a fishpond with particular balustrades and a cave called 'Diana's Bath'. In the nineteenth century the new fashion brought the British style garden and so the flush was again changed. Even today, however, the fishpond and the cave are visible.

The villa can be visited by paying an entrance fee ... it certainly deserves to be visited!
