Villa Ada, unfortunately, is now abandoned, but it has had a glorious past and was rich of events. In 1558 the residence was mentioned in historical documents. In the eighteenth century the Nobili family is shown as owner of the land and its buildings. In 1870 Sir Mac Bean becomes the owner of the villa and decides to restructure both the villa and the park. Sir Mac Bean was at that time consul of Great Britain in the Italian city of Livorno. During the villa renovation he added two imposing towers, hexagonal shaped, and still today these towers characterize the architectural layout of the villa itself. Villa Ada does not have a well-defined structure and shape as in centuries there were many additions and mergers between smaller buildings. Both on the facade of the towers and on one side of the villa there are balconies and windows with frames of stone. The main entrance to the villa was composed of large windows, a staircase and a beautiful marbled floor.

During your holidays in Tuscany you will certainly understood the importance of the garden in the many historic villas in the Tuscan hills and in major cities. Even in the case of Villa Ada, the park was an element of fundamental importance. The park is in Romantic style, according to the tastes of the nineteenth century. The gate is wrought iron and the iron railing has long branches that are intertwined with each others. There are also some artificial limestone caves.

Both the villa and the park would need to be restored. In 1975 the villa became the seat of spas. The villa is in fact located in Bagni di Lucca, famous spa town in the province of Lucca. Today it belongs to the municipality, but it has remained in disuse for many years.
