Villa Stibbert is now a museum but its construction dates back to the nineteenth century. The property belonged to Federico Stibbert who in 1880 asked his trusted architects to design and build the villa. Federico Stibbert was English, but his mother was from Florence. At the end of the nineteenth century the English community in Florence was very spacious and the villa represents the importance and love for the city by Stibbert but also by his countrymen. To witness it, there is also the choice by Stibbert to donate the entire property with the villa and the park to the city of Florence. Today the villa houses a museum, the Museum Stibbert.

The villa is in eclectic style with many rooms in different styles: from neo-Gothic to neo-Renaissance style, from the temple with the Egyptian sphinxes and lions to the hall with the Palio of Siena, from armor to pottery. Among the artists who collaborated to the beauty and eccentricity of the villa there are the main architect Poggi, the painters Annibale Gatti and Gaetano Bianchi, the sculptor Augusto Passaglia and the decorator Michael Piovano.

Particularly important the Stibbert collection of armor and weapons and the old collections housed in rooms decorated with Italian and German knights. The weapons and armor date back mainly to the sixteenth century and the seventeenth century. The remarkable collection of Japanese 'katana' that, according to experts, is the largest collection outside of Japan. Although the villa is reminiscent in part a fortress with its crenellated tower. Important collection of antique furniture and antique porcelain. In the park there is a fake Egyptian temple and an artificial lake, in addition to the lemon garden and the paths typical of an English-style park. Part of the park is dedicated to an Italian garden.
